Defining Life Coaching

Life coaching is NOT a place to process specific traumatic experiences, and it does NOT diagnose or treat mental health concerns.

Life coaching is NOT therapy or counseling, and it is NOT a substitute for mental, psychiatric, or psychological care, nor is it a substitute for any type of medical or health care.

Instead, life coaching is a conversation about your life, helping you find strategies to create actionable change in a way that works for you.

If you have any mental health concerns, you should seek the help of a licensed mental health care professional, instead of or in addition to, life coaching services.

Format of Services

Having coached hundreds of clients and been on the receiving end of hundreds of hours of coaching myself, I’ve seen the power of coaching to transform lives. Even one single session can be hugely transformative in beginning a shift.

However, it takes time and consistent effort for change to “stick.” For this reason, I offer initial clients 12-session packages, rather than single sessions. Generally, we meet once per week or once every other week on Zoom for up to an hour at a time. When you purchase your 12-session package, we’ll find a meeting schedule that works best for you.

After completing a 12-session package, you may feel complete in what you have learned and choose not to continue coaching. Or, you may wish to continue working together for another 12 sessions or on a single-session basis. There is no right or wrong, and I never pressure you to make additional purchases. I am always happy to help you make the decision that is best for you.

Payments

Payments will generally be billed to you in U.S. Dollars, but may be billed in another type of currency at your request.

You may pay via a valid credit or debit card, a bank transfer with sufficient funds to cover the payment, or another payment option that we agree upon in writing.

All payments are to be made in advance of services.

What You Can Expect

To get the most out of coaching, please come to each session on time and in a space without distractions. If you need to reschedule a call, please let me know as soon as possible. I encourage you to take notes and ask questions during our sessions, and to apply the concepts outside of our sessions. When you take ownership of the work, you elevate your experience.

When you begin coaching (or when you begin anything new in your life), you can usually expect to go through four phases:
(1) You’re feeling good and making progress as you ride the endorphins of a new experience.
(2) You run up against cognitive dissonance as you start to see things differently, so you feel that you may be dipping in your progress.
(3) You notice an oscillation between periods of plateaus and growth in your new skills.
(4) You start to experience steady growth with occasional plateaus as you master new skills.

Since I can’t predict what will happen in your life in the time we work together, I can’t guarantee specific results. However, I can promise that if you consistently show up and do the work, you will experience growth and transformation as a result of our time together. I am committed to working along side you, helping facilitate this shift. If you do not feel that you are getting the transformation you are looking for, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can modify our coaching as needed. I always aim to give you the best experience.

Confidentiality & Your Wellbeing

When you’re my client, my priority is your wellbeing. As such, I ask that you provide me with an emergency contact (name, phone number and/or email address) at the onset of our coaching together. I will not share any details about your coaching sessions with this person without your express permission. This person will only be contacted in case of emergency.

Although I am not a therapist or counselor, I do follow Mandated Reporter guidelines. This means that if I believe that you are a danger to yourself or others, I will notify the appropriate authorities. Outside of situations that involve mandated reporting, I will keep your information confidential, unless I have your express permission to share it with others.
